Where to Eat Before an Optus Stadium Event

Spicy Affair Indian Cuisine at 909A Albany Highway, East Victoria Park, is a BYO North Indian restaurant roughly ten minutes by car from Optus Stadium and Crown Perth. We open at 5:30 PM, so you can sit down to butter chicken, tandoori and biryani, bring your own wine or beer, and still reach the gates before the first bounce.

Stadium food is fine for a pie at three-quarter time. For a proper meal with the people you are going with, it pays to eat before you get there. Albany Highway is on the stadium side of the city, so you avoid crossing the CBD, and the side streets around us have free parking, which is more than you will find near the stadium itself.

A simple pre-event plan

1. Book the 5:30 PM sitting and add a note that you have a game or show, so we can time your meal around it.
2. Order to share. A starter such as the mixed platter, two curries, rice and a garlic naan feeds two to three people quickly.
3. Bring your drinks chilled; BYO is welcome for dine-in guests.
4. Leave by about 7:00 PM for a 7:30 PM start, and allow more time on big event nights when traffic around Burswood is heavier.

What to order when time is short

Go with what our regulars order: butter chicken, chicken korma, tandoori chicken and chicken biryani. They suit a mixed group, from people who like it mild to those who want more spice (ask, and we will turn the heat up). If the event finishes late, order takeaway online on the way home, or call us for pickup from Albany Highway. The takeaway menu has the same curries, biryani and breads.

Can I eat after the game?

Our kitchen is open until 10:00 PM, so an early-finishing event can work. For late finishes, order takeaway online on the way home instead.

Can we bring our own drinks?

Yes. Dine-in guests are welcome to bring their own wine or beer.

Are you open every night?

We are open for dinner Wednesday to Monday, 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and closed on Tuesdays.
